by Carol Collodi
The talented puppeteer Geppetto is a man of art! With love and craftsmanship, he creates his dream son from a strange, playful tree. He calls him Pinocchio, and he turns out to be a work of character. A real “wooden head” – headstrong, restless, curious and so naive that he doesn’t know right from wrong.
Children should go to school, but Pinocchio does not want to and that`s it… He runs away and takes his difficult way as a wandering wooden man, encountering all sorts of troubles. Pinocchio longs to be a real boy, and in his experiences he discovers what it is to be alive. He understands the power of love. His protector – the Fairy with blue hair, also shows him some unpleasant and shameful character traits – for example, lying. A faithful talking cricket accompanies and advises him in the dangerous moments, and they are not few.
The Wonderful Adventures of Pinocchio is a thrilling tale of “humanization” that the Italian writer Carlo Collodi told more than 140 years ago.
