an interactive dance performance, 2020
In-contact is an interactive performance by Lithuanian choreographer Agnija Šeiko and Bulgarian visual artist Albena Baeva. The performance was produced shortly after the 2020 Covid-19 lock down was lifted but travel was still uncertain. This way Baeva developed the installation and the interactive system from her studio in Sofia while Agnija Seiko and the whole team was working in Nida.
In-contact explores the illusory relationship between human omnipotence and nature. With the help of interactive technologies and ai-generated visuals the viewer is involved into a parallel universe where he gains the power to change the installation environment. But as control slips out of hand, mysterious creatures and sounds take over the space. The performance was developed for the first public opening of a historical lighthouse in Nida.
